Agency MABU Enters a New Chapter of Leadership
After more than two decades leading Agency MABU, founder Mike Mabin is retiring.
Mike started the company in 2001 following a 20-year career in healthcare administration, marketing, and fundraising. He saw a need to serve the underserved – namely nonprofit organizations, public service providers, and Native American entities. Over the years, we’ve grown into a trusted marketing and communications partner for organizations across the region and beyond.
“As I step away from my daily work at the agency, I’m incredibly grateful for the many people who have been part of this journey,” Mike reflected. “From colleagues and team members to the many clients who trusted us with their stories, it has truly been the honor of my career.”
Now at the end of a three-year succession process, Alexander Mabin leads Agency MABU as chief executive officer. He assumed the role in 2024, working closely with Mike to ensure continuity, stability, and a shared vision for the agency’s future.
“Carrying on Mike’s legacy is a responsibility I don’t take lightly,” said Alexander. “Mike built this agency on integrity, service, and trust, shaping not only our work but the humble, collaborative culture we’re known for. He established a foundation that allowed us to evolve from a local, client-focused niche to a purpose-driven model, supporting clients across all sectors, nationwide.”
Alexander has been with MABU for more than 15 years and previously led the agency’s Washington, D.C., office, working with federal agencies, national nonprofit organizations, and major corporations.

The transition also includes the promotion of Melissa Wulf to vice president of creative strategy, reflecting the continued growth of our leadership team. With 22 years in marketing and advertising, Melissa will oversee the strategic direction and creative output of our work.
As we move into this next chapter, we remain focused on helping organizations share their stories, engage their audiences, and make a meaningful impact in the communities they serve.
